ARTISTIC DIRECTOR AND PRINCIPAL CONDUCTOR OF BIPO: CARLO TENAN

Carlo Tenan, who won the acclaim of the audience with his concerts as a guest conductor of Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, is the new Artistic Director of BIPO. Tenan will conduct BIPO as the Principal Conductor starting from 2024/25 season.

Carlo Tenan is a musician and composer with his deep understanding of contemporary music, whose interpretations of symphonic music, opera and ballet are attracting growing international interest. Having graduated in conducting, piano, oboe, electronic music and composition, he began his career as assistant to Sir Antonio Pappano, Maestro Mstislav Rostropovich and Maestro Lorin Maazel.

In addition to his concerts with BIPO last year, he conducted concerts of well-established orchestras such as the Pomeriggi Musicali Orchestra and the Wunderkammer Orchestra. As a composer, his works have received awards in many international competitions. His work 4.0 for brass sextet has been performed and recorded by the Wonderbrass Ensemble and received acclaim. He has conducted prestigious international orchestras such as the Del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Rome’s Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Konzerthaus Berlin.
