PURPOSE
The purpose of this regulation is to set forth the principles and conditions for scholarships and social aids to be provided to support the education and training of successful youngsters in need of financial support in compliance with the main regulations and provisions of the Foundation.

1. Types of Scholarship
1.1. Scholarships Provided from Resources of Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation: Allocated in the framework of the principles set forth by the Board of Directors using resources of the Foundation. These scholarships have the following types.
1.1.a. University Scholarship: Within the framework of the principles set forth by the Board of Directors, this is granted to successful students in need of financial support who are enrolled in a formal education program in universities for which scholarship quota has been allocated.
1.1.b. Master’s Degree and PhD Scholarship: Within the framework of the principles set forth by the Board of Directors, this is granted to successful students in need of financial support who graduated from the Faculty of Law at Uludağ University and are enrolled in an overseas master’s degree education program.
1.1.c. Vocational High School Scholarship: Granted to successful students in need of financial support and enrolled at Borusan Asım Kocabıyık Technical and Industrial Vocational High School. The students are selected by the Scholarship Commission consisting of the principal and teachers of Borusan Asım Kocabıyık Technical and Industrial Vocational High School.
1.1.d. Music Scholarship: Within the framework of principles set by a jury consisting of leading figures of the field, this is granted to successful students in need of financial support who are enrolled in an overseas master’s degree program.

1.2. Scholarships Provided from Resources Other Than Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation: These scholarships are granted from “Conditional Scholarship Donations” made by real persons or entities or institutions outside the Foundation resources according to the request of the granter. These scholarships have the following types:
1.2.a. Scholarships Identified by the Sponsor: Allocated to students specified by the conditional granter.
1.2.b. Special Scholarships: Allocated to students specified by members of the Kocabıyık family, to be granted from the fund established by the family members at the Foundation.

2. General Rules

2.1. The following rules apply for the scholarships provided from the Foundation resources.
2.1.a. Enrollment in a domestic education institution as a full-time student is required to benefit from the scholarship.
2.1.b. The quota, scope and conditions of the scholarships and the qualifications of the students will be determined by the Board of Directors.
2.1.c. The scholarship requests from persons and institutions will be responded in accordance with the principles set by the Board of Directors.
2.1.d. The scholarships will be granted to students who receive education in Turkey and are citizens of the Republic of Turkey.
2.1.e. In order to benefit from the University Entrance Scholarship, the student must be successful and in need of financial support.
2.1.f. The Foundation will not grant scholarship to persons receiving scholarship from other resources as monthly cash aid (except for education credits from the Credit and Dormitories Agency or scholarships granted to disabled students).
g. The scholarships are non-refundable and does not impose any compulsory service or refund obligation on the student.
2.2. The distribution of “Conditional Scholarship Donations” granted by real persons or legal entities or institutions outside of Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation resources will be confirmed with the request of the granter.

3. Identification and Announcement of Scholarship Conditions and Scopes
3.1. The money to be allocated for the scholarships will be determined by the Board of Directors each year and placed in the budget.
3.2. The universities and faculties for which scholarship quotas will be allocated and the scholarship amounts will be determined by the Board of Directors each year.
3.3. The announcement for the scholarship applications will be published on the Foundation Website, at universities for which scholarship quota is allocated to and in newspapers, if necessary following the announcement of LYS (Undergraduate Placement Exam) results.

4. Application, Evaluation and Notification to the Foundation
4.1. New Scholarship Holders:
4.1.a. The new candidates for scholarship will complete all requested documents and apply to their universities on the announced dates.
4.1.b. The universities will examine the new scholarship applications and make selection among students fulfilling the conditions and report the scholarship candidates to Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation. The notification will include candidate's information such as name, surname, university entrance score, e-mail address, bank details etc.
4.2. Previous Scholarship Holders: The Foundation keeps a file for each student. These files contain the payments made, success and overall situation of the student. All students receiving scholarship are obliged to timely submit the specified information and documents indicating their situation to ensure proper monitoring of their education.

5. Scholarship Payments
5.1. The monthly cash payments for university scholarships will be made for 9 (nine) months between October and June and payments for primary, secondary and high school scholarships will be made for 10 (ten) months between September and June
5.2. The payments will be valid for students who completed their course enrollment for the semester, and will be made after the student submits the required documents to the Foundation.
5.3. The payments to be made to the student will be transferred by the Financial Affairs Department to the bank account of the student on the first week of each month.

6. Scholarship Period and Continuation Conditions
6.1. The scholarship during preparatory class is maximum for 1 (one) academic year (2 semesters).
6.2. The scholarship period starts with the start date of the scholarship and corresponds to the regular education period of the program in which the scholarship holder is enrolled.
6.3. The scholarship will be suspended, if the student takes a semester leave, however the same scholarship is granted again upon notification by the university that the student has enrolled. In such a case, the leave period will not be considered as part of the regular education period.
6.4. The scholarship will continue the next year for those entitled to continue to the next grade according to regulations of the university.
6.5. The scholarship will be halted if one or more of the following conditions become valid:
6.5.a. Grade or semester repeat,
6.5.b. Leaving the university due to disenrollment or graduation or change of education institution without the approval of the Foundation,
6.5.c. Sending a notification for waiving scholarship,
6.5.d. Receipt of scholarship from sources other than Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation as monthly cash payments while receiving scholarship from the Foundation (except for education credits from the Credit and Dormitories Agency or scholarships granted to disabled students),
6.5.e. Receiving disciplinary punishment,
6.5.f. Getting arrested,
6.5.g. Misrepresentation, for any reason whatsoever,
6.5.h. Failure to timely submit information and documents requested by the Foundation,
6.5.i. Transfer to a university other than those for which Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation allocated scholarship,
6.5.j. Employment under the Social Security Institution (except for internship).
6.6. The scholarship will continue for any student who transfers to another department within the same university.
6.7. The scholarship will continue for any student who transfers to another university if “the transferred university is among those for which quota is allocated to by Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation”.
6.8. The scholarship holders who participate in a domestic/overseas education program through a student exchange program and continue the university they were enrolled to receive diploma in the regular education period when they return can receive their scholarships during their time at the domestic/overseas education program, provided that they submit the documents/information requested by the Foundation.

7. Requalifying for Scholarship
7.1. The terminated scholarships will be re-granted upon the following conditions:
7.1.a. Disciplinary punishment imposed on the scholarship student is pardoned together with all consequences,
7.1.b. Cease of detention of the scholarship holder and granting of the right to continue school,
7.1.c. The students who fail a year or repeat a semester continuing to the next grade/semester at the next academic year/semester (except for those forced to repeat a period equivalent to two academic years without any excuse).
7.2. The restart of scholarships due to the reasons set forth in this article will apply as of the start of the month following receipt of the required information and documents by the Foundation and there will be no retrospective payment.

8. Miscellaneous
Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation Board of Directors will be authorized for transactions about the issues not included under Borusan Kocabıyık Foundation Scholarship Regulation.
