Asım and Nurhan Kocabıyık Teacher's Lodge opened on November 24, 2005 by Semra Sezer, the esteemed wife of the 10th President Ahmet Necdet Sezer. It was built to meet the social needs of our teachers who have made significant contribution for our country to become what it is today.
Located next to Avcılar Ferry Dock and across the National Sovereignty Park and Atatürk’s House Museum, the teacher's lodge was built on a 250-square meter land and includes a total indoor area of 1340 square meters. The building consists of a multi-purpose hall, a restaurant, seven rooms for accommodation, a cafeteria, library and women’s and men’s hairdressers. All furnishing of the teacher's lodge was made by the Foundation with a cost of TRY 1.5 million and all ground studies for the building were conducted as it is located on a first degree earthquake zone.
Wearing and aging in time, the teachers' lodge had a comprehensive maintenance and repair in 2014 for 45 days with a cost of TRY 250,000. The renovation included the internal and external repairs, paint, replacement of elevator, full replacement of the grounds of the floor and the electricity and heating installation, and it was submitted to the Ministry of National Education on late April, 2014.
